Old Buddhist Heritage Tour (8 Nights | 9 Days)
Colombo - Anuradhapura - Mihintale - Polonnaruwa - Dambulla - Sigiriya - Dambulla - Matale - Nuwara Eliya Kandy - Colombo
As a Buddhist country, Colombo city looks like the Busiest town in Sri Lanka. But even if the city is busy, the people in Sri Lanka do not forget to step into a temple when they are having leisure time. Though the city is busy, after entering to a temple suddenly your mind will be calm. It will penetrate your whole mind and automatically you will be escaped from the fussy feelings.
Day 1: Arrival - Colombo
Upon arriving in Sri Lanka meet and assist at the airport by our representative and transfer to Colombo from the Bandaranayake International Airport for your first night. Before check-in to the hotel, you can visit famous Buddhist temples in and around Colombo. Visit famous temples such as Gangaramaya and Bellanwila viharaya and also do the city tour in Colombo.
Day 2: Colombo - Anuradhapura
After breakfast, you will be heading to one of the historical unesco world heritage site and this city gained more reputation during the late period royal family and nobility of Sri Lanka strongly supported Buddhism. En route visits Kelaniya Raja Mahaviharaya. After the visit, Kelaniya Raja Mahaviharaya will continue our journey to Anuradhapura. On the way visit Yapahuwa after visit Yapahuwa we will continue your journey to Anuradhapura. In the afternoon you can visit sri Maha Bodiya, Isurumuniya, Lovamahapaya and many other places which well-known ritual centers.
Day 3: Anuradhapura - Mihintale - Anuradhapura
After breakfast does a city tour in Anuradhapura and proceed to Mihintale. Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist Monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa, which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is now a pilgrimage site and the site of several religious monuments and abandoned structures.
Day 4: Anuradhapura - Polonnaruwa - Dambulla
After breakfast proceeds to Polonnaruwa do the city tour in Polonnaruwa. You will be heading to one of the historical UNESCO World Heritage site and this city gained more reputation during the late period royal family and nobility of Sri Lanka strongly supported Buddhism on the evening visit Dambulla Golden Cave Temple.
Day 5: Dambulla - Sigiriya - Dambulla
After breakfast proceeds to Sigiriya, we will climb the Sigiriya rock. After decent, you can enjoy a cool drink of King Coconut Thambili. In the evening visit Golden Cave Temple in Dambulla.
Day 6: Dambulla - Matale - Kandy
After breakfast, leave for Kandy, en-route visit Aluvihare rock monastery is one of the most important cultural sites on the Island. On our way you could enjoy the scenic hill country environment, which will make us forget.
Tediousness of the journey. Your journey passing through a Panorama of contrasting landmarks of coconut and rubber plantations with paddy fields.as we head to Sri Lanka’s hill capital - the small lakeside city of Kandy.
Day 7: Kandy
After breakfast, visit Bodimaluvihare, 100 years old, with 24 benedictions drawn on the walls. Degaldoruwa, cave temples with interesting paintings and Buddha statues and also of interest are Embekke, Gadaladeniya Andlankatileke Vihare. An evening with an escort explores the temple of Tooth Relic, the most venerated place for the Buddhists all over the world. In the evening you can witness the cultural show in Kandy. Overnight stay at the hotel in Kandy.
Day 8: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya - Kandy
After breakfast proceeds to Nuwara Eliya. You travel north to the central highlands - a stirring land of lush tea Plantations, Majestic Peaks and Gushing Waterfalls. Visit tea factory in Nuwara Eliya. After that, we will return to the hotel in Kandy.
Day 9: Kandy - Departure
After breakfast, we will transfer to airport. As all good things must come to an end, your chauffeur guide with comfortably takes you to the international airport in time for your return flight.
